Nodame Cantabile

Anime Review

This week, we venture into the fields of the classic music and discover the eccentric relationship between two unique talents. As their complex affection deepens, their music soar a greater mile. Nodame Cantabile - production of Tomoko Nioomiya.

Storyline

Shinichi Chiaki is a top student at Momogaoka, a top music academy in Japan. Born into a musical family, Chiaki is a very talented pianist and violinist and has ambitions to be a conductor like his mentor. An arrogant and perfectionist who is highly critical of himself and others, Chiaki has the phobia of flight which traps him in Japan.

The Cast!

He meets Megumi Noda or ‘Nodame’, an extremely talented pianist who prefers playing by ear to reading the music score. Unlike Chiaki, Nodame’s ambition is to be a kindergarten teacher. She is disorganized, bathes only once in several days, loves to eat and annoys Chiaki initially.

Nodame quickly falls in love with Chiaki, who takes much longer to appreciate Nodame’s unusual qualities. As their relationship grows, they begin to develop their musical abilities. Through Nodame, Chiaki gets to lead a student orchestra and also learns to be more appreciative of others’ musical abilities. Through Chiaki, Nodame also faces her own fears and enters a piano competition.

My End Verdict
An truly inspiring anime I've ever seen. The story itself is well plotted and the unique characteristic of each individuals makes them standout and very distinctive by their own. In terms of musics and BGM, they are satisfactory however credit given for their recital playing, which harks back the good-old classics! Definitely a memorable one!

Closing Theme 1: Konna ni Chikaku de... - Crystal Kay

With Paint & Brushes

Imagination is a powerful tool any artist could ever wanted, an asset that kick starts the initiative preceding of a creative art piece. It can travel by miles without having you to move a single muscle, and it can be manipulated how one's wish it to be. Often what one's imagination are is implied by their experience, the things they saw while traveling, TV, magazine, or even from their wildest dreams (where we glides through fantasy that we never thought existed)... basically anything and everything they've exposed through out their life.

It gives me flicker of ideas and incentive to draw and paint, which has become so useful to me now, especially during boredom moments when watching boring television program is meaningless and preposterously inconsequential to pass the time. So... transferring a portrayed imagination to a piece of blank sheet is a good way to pass time and keep my imagination going!

Masterpiece #1
First Day of Spring

It's the first day of spring where everything blossomed blooms today! Giselle is taking her pet dog, Pepito for a walk to the bakery to buy a new loaf of French bread for the coming tea party. Walking through the pergola of vintage grape into a small park on her way home, and this is how this art piece come about.

Masterpiece #2
Auspicious 9

Do you know the secrets of the number "9". Rumors has it said that the number 9 signify infinity! After numerous deductive reasoning, even numerologist agrees with it. We can see this in the multiplication of the number 9, and every time multiply 9 with any number, we get an answer and add the until a single digit, the answer will still be 9. Don't believe me? Here is evidence:

9 x 11 = 99
(9+9=18)
(1+8=9)

9 x 218 = 1962
(1+9+6+2=18)
(1+8=9)

9 x 555 = 4955
(4+9+5+5=27)
(2+7=9)

Believe me now? :P... That's why this painting is inspired by the number 9, and the others are just scenery of the four seasons. Yea, you should know by now that I'm the epitome of all superstitions wth!

Imagination is the key to unlock our vast possibilities

A Chapter of Culinary

It's twelve days in since we celebrated and welcomed a new year, (Two Ooo Ooo Nine), and the next auspicious event to celebrate about in the calendar is the Chinese New Year - CNY. I'm so happy to born in a multicultural country with so many festive season to celebrate!

Like I said twelve days has passed and only 353 days left in the year 2009, Omg! Recently, I've been keeping myself occupied to do the things I want, I like, I love most before I left Malaysia to Australia in number of weeks time, approx 1 month to go ;)..... Zzz

Okay *swt*, I almost forgot the purpose of this entry until I saw my blog title again... So yea, I've been helping my mum in the kitchen lately as well, baking those CNY cookies we love so much.

This is Green Pea Cookie
before baking

After baking
It's my first time eating green pea cookies. It has quite a unidue taste, but abit sweet >_<
memorandum: reduce the amount of icing sugar, regardless what the recipe said!

Crunchy Dark Chocolate Cookie
Before baking
Err... without the flour and mixture -.-

After baking

Haphazard shaped crunchy dark chocolate cookies - despite it has a not clearly crafted physique, and the lighting makes it looks un-yummy, but that intangible sense of the taste when one bites is more concerned. No?

Almond Flakes Cookies
Before baking

After Baking
this is my personal favourite =)

It's fun to spend a whole great day with my mum and sister baking. While doing it, we get to bond, have fun and the best part is, its cost-effective! =)

Well, this isn't the culinary skill I was hoping to adopt when I study overseas, so I'm forced to learn some real cooking this week from the pro and cook dinner for the first time! xD

It's not the bedtime story that I like,
it's your voice that I love when you read it to me.

Schooling Days

I was waken up by the resounding
impatient alarm clock
the dazzling sun above us is in top shape today
I chase you from behind as I rub my sleepy eyes
but I run too fast, stumble, trip, and fall over

During class, I look up at the sky
gaping my mouth open wide. A paper airplane
hits my head with a message written on it
" smile forever and ever "

Right now, I can share my days, with you at your side
no matter what obstacles we run into
we can easily jump over them
I hope we both can welcome tomorrow together
even on cloudy days

We have a smile filled with the colours of happiness
just like the sparkling sun above

Victorian Romance Emma

Is romance your cup of tea? This week, take out your vintage English tea set and soak into the story of Emma and William, where their historical romance/slice-of-life drama set in Victorian era London in the anime - Eikoku Koi Monogatari Emma, Victorian Romance Emma!

Anime Review
Storyline:

Season 1
Set in the days of Victorian charm, this anime is about a young maid (Emma) who works for Kelly Stowner, a former governess, in Victorian London.

One day, Stowner's former student William Jones pays her a visit at her residences. Unexpectedly, William ends up falling in love with the beautiful and soft-spokened Emma. However, he is a member of the gentry (the status between upper middle class and nobility) and his family's heir, and she is merely a maid, not even employed by his family. In the novels, this would mean either elevating Emma's social status with a secret noble heritage, or William disowning himself from his wealthy family, thus lowering himself to Emma's social rank.

As William and Emma fall deeper in love, their social status set them firmly apart. We see the class-crossed lovers act overtly with honesty and dignity; no elaborate disguises or schemes for a midnight rendezvous here. In fact, Emma's employer and William's former governess, Kelly Stowner encourages their affair, believing that love can overcome even obstacles as strong as society. However, she is the exception to the norm. William's father is strongly opposed, as are some of the Jounes servants. William's siblings, Arthur, Grace, Vivi and Colin see it as social suicide and willfully putting the family into jeopardy. Emma and William, however, are both well aware of the turmoil that their relationship is causing for themselves and the people around them.

Season 2
Moving on from the relationship with William Jones, Emma leaves London to work as a maid in the Molders family.

Set in 19th century England, Emma: A Victorian Romance Act Two starts one month after Emma ended her relationship with Williams Jones. Hoping to move on in life without William, Emma leaves London in search of a fresh start. Working in her new job as a maid in the Molders family estate, Emma’s quiet and demure nature soon catches the eye and respect of the sullen but kind-hearted footman Hans.

Back in London, William Jones is also trying to come to terms with life without Emma. Whenever he feels down, he is comforted by Eleanor Campbell, the daughter of a viscount. After persistence by both the Jones and Campbell families, William gets engaged to Eleanor.

Fate then plays a cruel joke, as Emma and William are made to meet again and to realize their feelings for each other have remained unchanged. William decides to renounce his engagement to Eleanor resulting in Eleanor’s father deciding to have revenge on the Jones family.

Media:
Opening Theme: Silhouette of a Breeze - Ryou Kunihiko
Closing Theme: Munuet for EMMA - Tokyo Recorder Orchestra

My End Verdict:
This is a refreshing sight to see in both romantic anime and literature. I simply love the setting in based on the historical London. It's a gem! Go watch!

2008 Auld Lang Syne

A new year needs new resolutions! As every year comes with the balance of new opportunities and new threats. Come to think of it... in recent years nearing the tail end of a year, things are much worse-off, encountering daunting downturns circumstances such as 2007 - the year of Fire Boar cast wildfires which flames and burns over 1,600 homes living thousands homeless in California , and 2008 - the fearsome global financial crisis left many investors devastated. That is why this year I came up with some new resolutions to support myself during contingent situation to ensure readiness to grab hold of opportunities when it comes and the sufficient backup needed to sail through hard times.

Okay, this year is the year I'm going to study aboard... Gosh... and what seems to be boring last time, I'm starting to appreciate everything so so much right now! Arghh... why does time flies by so fast?

Also, this year, I don't wanna get too personal with my blog, cause the big issue with BLOGS is that the viewers tends to know about me but I don't have the slightest clue who is my viewers! They know me better than me knowing them! haihz... this is so uncool xP I'll think about how to resolve this, but it's not too much of my concern right now cause I don't offend ppl in my blog ;D

*peace*

Every New Year, I spend my time at home watching fireworks on television with my family, and every year I always miss the chance of celebrating with my fallow friends. Despite sitting at home in front of the television on New Year's Eve, I realize it's not where I am spending my New Year, but who I spend it with... and I'm really fortunate to have them by my side commemorate the New Year by counting down to the very last minute of 2008 with them, began 2009 with them. I'm so gonna miss my dearest family so much >_<

Thankful for whatever you have and make possibilities happen in 2009, Happy New Year everyone =)

p/s: This is my first post for the year 2009 =) Hooray! *cough*
