Storyline
Here's a popular tale on the age-old themes of love and sacrifice. Expect lots of adventure ... and feathers =P

TRAVELLING through different worlds to save the one you love ... sounds cliched? That may be so, but this anime has more to offer than that.

Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle (Tsubasa Chronicle or Chronicle of the Wings for the anime)

The anime is about Princess Sakura from Clow Country who, through a strange occurrence in an archaeological site, loses her memory when it disperses into the air in the form of feathers.
Her childhood friend Syaoran, an archaeologist undertaking research on the site, is the only one capable of saving Sakura. He must travel to different worlds to recover these feathers to help Sakura regain her memory and return to her old self.

However, Syaoran will not be travelling alone. Tagging along are his two companions, who each has a reason to hop worlds. Wizard Fye D. Flourite wants to avoid going home to Celes while on the contrary, Kurogane, a ninja who was banished for his rampant killings in his quest to become the strongest man in Japan, now wishes to hit home.

They must turn to Yuuko, a dimensional witch with the power to grant wishes (at a price, of course). Yuuko duly states that the price for travelling to different worlds is losing the one that they hold dear.

While Kurogane pays with his sword and Fye with the tattoo on his back, Syaoran’s payment is Sakura’s memories of him. That means as Sakura regains her memory with the recovery of each feather, she will slowly lose memories of Syaoran.

Despite all this, Syaoran perseveres in his quest to save the one he loves. With the help of Fye, Kurogane and Mokona Modoki, a fun-loving creature that enables them to travel to different worlds, he tries to retrieve Sakura’s memory despite the sad knowledge that she will not remember him.

The show is filled with action, adventure and romance. There are lessons everyone can learn from or relate to. Unfortunately, although there is a second season, there are no plans for a third with reasons that can only be speculated. There are rumours that because the manga has taken a violent turn, the anime production is put on hold =(

However, what’s confirmed is that there will be three OVAs (original video animation) entitled Tokyo Revelations. The OVAs will cover one of the manga arcs which reveals Syaoran’s past. Can't wait =)

Fun Facts

1 Those who follow the Cardcaptor Sakura anime will remember an episode where Syaoran shows an interest in archaeology and his admiration for Sakura’s father, Fujitaka, an archaeologist. In Tsubasa, Syaoran is Fujitaka’s adopted son and they are both archaeologists.

2 Tsubasa, xxxHolic and Kobato are three of CLAMP’s latest manga series that contain crossovers from other CLAMP works.

3 There have been comparisons made between Tsubasa and Kingdom Hearts. In both series, the main characters travel through different worlds to regain something. Seiyuu Irino Miyu voices Syaoran and Sora, the main character of Kingdom Hearts.

The storyline may seem a little too predictable to some. And.. I want to watch Season 3 please!!!!!

Hi there! Just got back from holiday yesterday and I missed blogging >.<

So...

Today, after 2 weeks of absence blogging on anime, I would like to blog about an anime which I enjoyed watching since my childhood. It's non other than~~~ Cardcaptor Sakura (I know this may sounds girlish, but hey... I'm a child who loves cartoon. Can't stop me XD)

Anime Review

Kero and Sakura

Storyline:

The story begins with a girl named Sakura Kinomoto, a ten-year-old fourth grader who opens a mysterious book at the basement of her father's study room and set free the magical Clow Cards. The previous master of these cards obviously by the name of master Clow (Clow Reed to be precise) and now chosen by the Beast of the Seal (Cerberus aka Kero) from the book, Sakura has become the new master of the cards.

As a cardcaptor and a student, Sakura is trap with the responsibility to retrieve all the missing cards and maintain her grades at school. She is assisted by Kero, who appears to look like an animated plush toy throughout most of the series (his "borrowed" form), guides Sakura as she develops her Cardcaptor powers.

Not forgetting with some help from her friends Tomoyo, Li Syaoran and Li Meiling who appears
in the series as well. Tomoyo Daidoji, a childhood friend of Sakura who loves designing outfits for Sakura to wear them during cardcapting circumstances. She is seen holding a video camera most of the time capturing Sakura's battle. Li Syaoran, a transfer student from Hong Kong who came to Japan to retrieve Clow Cards as well. No doubt he was first Sakura rival... As the story goes on, we can see that gradually there's chemistry going on between Sakura and Syaoran XD Syaoran falls in love with Sakura and tries to find a way to admit his feelings to her (watch it yourself! You'll see how). Last but not least, Li Meiling, a cousin of Syaoran came to Japan as a student to visit Syaoran. Meiling was also engaged with Syaoran (as shown in series).

However...

It's not the end for Sakura after retrieving all the Clow Cards. She's now needed to use her own power (neither the Sun nor Moon but the power of a Star) to reincarnate all Clow Reed's cards to Sakura's Cards. The worst has yet to come. Now that every time Sakura uses a card, the power will no longer drain from Clow Reed's magic but from Sakura's own magic. Tired from exhaustion after transforming a card, Sakura has to learn to develop a much stronger magical power to reincarnate the cards in time before its too late!

There are 2 CCS movies. First was between Season 1 and 2 while the second was after the last episode. All are nicely plotted ^^

Love this anime so so much! Good storyline and the characters are all drawn so cute >.<

Art Is Everything (2 me)

Ever since when I got my first set of colour pencils, drawing has always been my passion. With just papers and pencils... I am never lonely. Being able to draw, really does express alot about myself. And this part of me is the one I treasure most! It's priceless!

Ahhh.. there is so many things that I like to do... my head is completely full. There is so many pieces of art that I would like to make. It feels like I'm chasing every idea that flies out of my head. I catch them, I fight them and slowly I consume them,.... then I make them and return them to where they belong... and I start again.

It takes so much time and so much effort. I hope that one day I can open every boxes. Although, my lifetime would be too short to do everything that I want to do. Realizing my life ambition, its all depend on the lake of my life.

Somehow, its still worth putting those images on paper and bring them to life. =)

To me.. anime is much easier to draw and able to show their cute expression XD.. its really easy to create your own anime and who knows, less than an hour you get more than 10 anime char.. currently learning how to shade it but the result was quite dirty.. so takes time =.="

This week lets travel to the past in one of the early days in China. This anime similar to stories unfolded in China, where a palace' life is nothing but power, betrayal and romance.

Storyline:

SAIUNKOKU, a country very much like medieval China, is ruled by eight noble families: the Ran (Blue), Kou (Red), Heki (Green), Ko (Yellow), Haku (White), Koku (Black), Sa (Brown) and Shi (Purple), each named after a colour representing its territory. Reigning above them all is the Emperor of Saiunkoku, a member of Shi, the royal family of Saiunkoku.

Although Kou Shuurei belongs to the Kou (Red) family, she lives an impoverished life. She can’t even afford to have a decent meal, let alone fix the family’s sprawling but crumbling property. So she is forced to take on various jobs, such as teaching and sewing, to make ends meet.

But Shuurei’s real dream is to take the Imperial Examination and become a government official in order to serve the people. Unfortunately, her dream is a futile one because girls are forbidden to take the examination.

Meanwhile, the three grand officials of the palace are worried about the emperor, Shi Ryuuki, because of his lack of interest in the affairs of the state. Grand Advisor Shou devises a plan to give Ryuuki a consort who will teach him the responsibilities of a ruler, and decides that Shuurei is the best person for the job – she is of noble descent, yet lacks influence in the government and political scene.

Shuurei promptly accepts Shou’s offer. After all, there’s a huge reward if she agrees, and she doesn’t have to “worry” about the emperor falling in love with her because he is said to be a homosexual! Plus, this is a rare opportunity for her to help her country.

Therefore, she enters the palace as the emperor’s consort with her loyal follower and bodyguard Shi Seiran by her side.

Eventually, Shuurei’s outstanding personality, shaped by her relatively humble past and daily hard work, manages to catch the attention of not only the emperor, but many high-ranking government officials as well. Thus begins her quest to change Saiunkoku for the better.

The anime, which is adapted from a novel series by Yukino Sai, has political intrigue, romance and drama. It starts slow but gathers momentum as various aspects of Saiunkoku’s government and complicated political ties are revealed. At the centre of it all is the earnest Shuurei, who honestly wants to improve a country devastated by a civil war not long ago.

Saiunkoku Monogatari (Colourcloud Palace) demonstrates how a person, with talent and dedication, can do much to change the world.

While the main character is undoubtedly Shuurei, the other characters too do steal the show, especially the bishonen (pretty boys) among them! The happy-go-lucky Emperor Shi Ryuuki, for one, will wow many a fangirl.

Nevertheless, Saiunkoku has many qualities that will appeal to both genders. It may seem like a shojo (girls) anime at first glance. But it’s really geared towards the seinen (young adult) market with its intriguing mix of political drama and romance besides featuring an extremely large cast of characters.

The characters are all interesting; Shuurei is an ever-likeable heroine, Ryuuki is more than the spoilt emperor he appears to be and Shi Seiran has quite a background! These and the other personalities of Saiunkoku’s government will keep you fascinated with their mysterious nature and motives.

The story of Saiunkoku Monogatari is compelling, and is boosted by good production values, talented seiyuu and a really good soundtrack.

Yes! Finally, the long awaited post is up =)

Pangkor, my first trip with fallow L3, or should I say my only trip with L3 so far. =P Despite I have not receive all photos from you guys, but the post must go on.

It's a 4 day 3 nights holiday (from 25 to 28 November)
